July 28. The medical attendants of Admiral the Earl of Cianwilliam have decided that His Lordship is now convalescent. 11.M.5. Bacchante arrived to-day from Melbourne. It ia believed, however, that the squadron will be further detained for some days until she has finished provisioning and coaling. Small-pox is again increasing in the city, in spite of the stringent measures that have been adopted by the Board of Health for preventing the spread of the contagion. Another case has been reported to-day from Woolloomooloo. July 29. Nothing definite has transpired with regard to the movements of the squadron, but it is now said to be uncertain whether it will, after all, visit Auckland. The Admiral is known to be awaiting further instructions from the Admiralty.
