[by cable.] Melbourne, July 23. Tho Winter Steeplechase meeting of the Victoria Kacing Club was held to-day at Elemington. The weather was fine. There was a good attendance. His Excellency the Governor was pi'esent. The following are the results two chief events of the day. GRAND NATIONAL HURDLE RACE, 3 miles. Mr Loughlin's Sir Peter 1 Mr Saqui's Cumberland 2 Mr Winter's Dhurringile 3 Thirteen horses started. lb was a splendid rflca, and was won by a neck. Time, oming 4smh
GBAND HATIONAL BTEBPIEOHASE, 3 miles. Mr G-oyders's Sussex ... ... .., 1 Mr Loughlin's Twilight 2 Mr Weeke's Lucy ... ... ... 3 Seven horses started. It was a good race, and was won by two lengths. Time, 7mins 3secs.
