HAWKE'S BAY COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONDAY, JULY 25.
The adjourned meeting of the above Council was held to-day at 11 o'clock. Present: — Messrs Tanner, Kinross, Rymer, and Bennett. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Tenders were opened for the appointment of impounding ranger as follow: — P. S.Murtagb, £6 10s per month ; J. Madden (informal); S. Pell, £10; J. Olsen, £7 10s; W. Sharp, £8; P. O'Shannessy, £9 3s; J. W. O'Brien, £18; J. Gloyn, £8 ss; J. Higgs, £12 10s; P. Hargraves, £12 10s; W. Fairbrother£lo (accepted) ; G. Cornish, £13 ; T. Home, £10.
Mr Rymer moved, and Mr Bennett seconded, " That the ranger be instructed to impound all stock herded on the public roads under his charge." Carried.
Tbe following portions of the county roads were ordered to be placed under the ranger's charge for impounding purposes:—From Napier along Te Aute road to Paki Paki; from Napier along Puketapu road to Hakowai by Tareha's bridge; from Napier to Redcylffe by new road; from Havelock through Hastings to cross road near old Willow pa; from Havelock along Middle road to South cross road leading to Paki Paki: from Napier through Petane to first Btream beyond Carr's gate on Kaiwaka road. A letter was read from Mr Higgins directing the attention of the Council to the bad state of the slaughter yards through pigs being allowed to stay in tbe sheep pens, and the wet and muddy state the yards are continually in through leakage from the water taps. After some conversation, on tbe motion of Mr Tanner, seconded by Mr Kinross, Messrs Rymer and Bennett were appointed a sub-committee to report to the Council on the whole management and condition of the slaughter yards, with power to authorise such immediate re> pairs as may be deemed necessary. The Council then adjourned.
