May 25—Maori, s.s., from Wairoa. Passengers —Miss and Master Nairn, Messrs F. Nairn, J. Torr, J. Lyon, and two natives.
DEPARTURES
May 26—Result, s.s., for Wairoa, -with a number of native passengers. 36—Emerald, ketch, for Foxton. 26 —Verms, ketch, for Auckland.
The s.s. Result, Capt. W. E. Baxter, steamed for Wairoa at 9 o'clock this morning, taking a full cargo and several native passengers. ■ The ketch Emerald, fapt. Moore, sailed this morning in ballast for Foxton. The steamer Maori, Capt. Anderson, returned from Wairoa at about eight o'clock last night, bringing several passengers and some cargo. She leaves again for the same place early to-morrow morning "with a full cargo.
The ketch Venus, Capt. J. King, sailed for Auckland this morning, taking 6 tons of furniture, 10 tons of bone dust, besides a quantity of limestone. The Union Company's steamer Albion, Captain Anderson, leaves Gisborne to-night, and will arrive at daylight to-morrow. The advertised time for the launch to leave the •wharf with the outward passengers for Southern ports and Melbourne is 11 a.m. The s.s. Fairy, Captain Campbell, leaves to-night for Te Apiti and Waimarama, with a full cargo of timber and general stores. The s.s. Kiwi, Captain Campbell,leaves Wellington to-night, and will arrive here on Monday, sailing the same evening for Poverty Bay. The schooner Endeavor, leaving to-day for Oarnaru, is to return at an early date, a full cargo awaiting her arrival at that port for Napier. The Union Company's s.s. Te Anau, Capt. Carey, does not leave Wellington until in o'clock to-night, and will therefore not arrive here before about 5 o'clock on Saturday evening, and as she has over 70 tons of cargo to discharere here, and some 400 sheep to ship, it will probably be Sunday morning before the passengers will be required to embark.
The topsail schooner Endeavor, Capt. James Dick, cleared at the Customs this in ballast, for Oat a, and will probably sail this evening.
