WASTE LANDS BOARD.

THIS DAY.

The Board met at 11 a.m. Present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands, and Commissioners Lambert, Tiffen, Buchanan, Tanner and Harding. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Under-Secretary notifying that the Governor had approved of the resolution of the Board relative to the extent of the suburban sections at Awatoto, and the price at which they were offered. From the Secretary of Education to the Under-Secretary requesting that the two acres marked " School Site " on the Map of the Tarawera township might be gazetted as a site for a public school. From Mr J. H. Chapman, applying to have the improvements made by him on section 5, Heretaunga Special Settlement, inspected. It was agreed that Mr Chapman be allowed to pay the balance of the purchase money. From Mr Andrew Maras, applying to purchase a portion of rural section No. 127, Woodville. It was resolved that Mr Maras should be informed that the land was not at present open for sale or lease.

From Elizabeth Caldwell, applying for the transfer of tbe interest in section 3, Victoria Special Settlement, to Henry "Williams. Approved, subject to the payment of instalments due.

Report of ranger on section 21 and 23, block 3, township of Ormondville, selected by Mr E, Skog. The report stated that the timber had been felled, but not burnt, and that the selector was not residing on the land. It was resolved that Mr Skog be written to and asked his intentions as to settlement on tbe land. Application from Messrs Wilson and Richardson to purchase 180 acres at Kereru was approved. NORSEWOOD SUHVEY DISTRICT. Licenses under section 63 of the Land Act, 1877, were ordered to be issued in respect to tbe following applications: — No. 42 by George Thurgood for section 16 block 3, No. 43 by Soren Briksen for section 22 block 6, No. 44 by Julius Hanson for section 16 block 6, No. 45 by Nils Magunsson for section 13 block 6, No. 46 by Erik Eriksen for section 18 block 6.

The Chairman read a report of the lands which were not sold at the auction held on the 11th instaat, and it was decided that those lands should be open for sale on application, 'i TATJTANE QUARANTINE RESERVE. The Chief Surveyor's report on the reserve having been considered, it was decided that His Excellency the Governor should be recommended to withdraw from reservation all the land except that portion containing 2917 acres, situated on the south side of due east line drawn from the trig station 39 a. to the boundary of the reserve, and that in the event of the reservation being removed the Board recommends that an exploration survey be made to ascertain the best line of road to open up the land for settlement. The Board then adjourned.
