CHRISTCHURCH.

May 26. The ship Remington, which arrived from London yesterday, brought a pack of Harriers, numbering twelve, for Mr Thomas Hamlyn, of Kingsborough, near Timaru. Yesterday a fire occurred at Amberley, destroying a large stack and two reapers and binders, the property of Mr D. Brown, They were insured for £200 in the National office. The origin of the fire is unknown. The weather recently has been very unseasonable, and dry and hot. Rain is much required. In C. Y. O'Connor's report on the proposed railway to the West Coast was published this morning. The estimated cost of the 157 miles, Hurunui to Brunnerton, is £1,500,000.
