AUCKLAND.
May 20. At a meeting of the City Council the Mayor stated that be would take steps to ascertain whether the detached squadron would visit Auckland, and if so he would initiate measures for a suitable reception. The City School Committee last night passed a resolution unanimously condemning sny interference with the Education Act. A boat, with three young men in it, capsized near the entrance to the harbor yesterday. All were good swimmers, and reached shore much exhausted, alter being an hour in the water.
