Distance, 2 miles. Entrance, £4. First prize, value £30; second prize, £5. 3. MAORI CANOE RACE—Not less than tv/enty men in each canoe Distance, 1 mile. Entrance free. First prize, £10; second prize, £2 10a. 4. SENIOR FOURS-For Four-oared Inrigged Gigs. Open to all Amateurs who have not rowed in Race No. 2. Distance, 1 mile. Entrance, £2. First prize, four embroidered belts presented by the Ladles of Napier, with Trophy, value £15, added; second prizo, Daily TeliEGKAph's Trophy. 5. ROB ROY CANOE RACE-Distance £ mile (round a buoy). Entrance, 2s 6d; three entries or no race. Prize £2. 6. JUNIOR FOURS—For Four-oared Inrigged Gigs. Open to all Amateurs who have not rowed in Races Nos. 2 and 4. Distance 1 mile. Entrance £2. SWIMMING HANDlCAP—Distance, 440 yards, (round a buoy). Entrance, ss. First prize, a Cap, value, £4 4g; second prize, £1. All competitors must wear a swimming costume. RULES1. Entries for Races Nos 1. 2, 4, 5,6,8, and 10 to close en the 3rd March, at 8 p.m2. Entries for Raoe No- 3 will be received in the Committee's Room till noon on the 2nd March, and entries for Races. Nos 7 and 9 will be received at the post. 3. All entries to be accompanied by entrance fees and colors, and to be addressed to the Secretary, Criterion Hotel, Napier 4. No entry will be received after the stated hour and date on any pretence whatever 5. First race" to start at 6. All Races to be rowed under Henley Rules 7. The decisions of the Umpire and Judge shall in all cases be final. 8. For this Reeatta— By an Amateur shall be understood the reverse of a Professional as defined by the "Australasian" of October 25th, 1879, viz. :— " A professional rower is a person who has earned or is earning his living on the water ; who has been engaged in boat-building, or letting or tending of boats; who has competed against watermen at any Regatta ; or who has rowed for or received a money prize, or taken money in recognition of his skill in rowing. " ..... 8. Each pulling boat shall carry a distinguishing flag. 10. In the case of a " walk over " no public money will be given. 11.
