PLEASANT FOR MR FORSTER.
Mr Eorster has had experience of the palace of Truth. Lunching at a well-known dining-room in Dublin the other day he found himself involuntarily playing the role of Haroun al Easchild. At the same table •was an outspoken young gentleman, whose advances towards conversation were not deGlined by the' Irish Secretary. In a short time the conversation turned oh the, state of anarchy in the west and south of Ireland ; and the opening remarks of the young' gentleman were so truly Liberal that Mr Forster felt they had met on common ground. This opinion was somewhat modified when his companion, warming with tho subject, said, " Some reform in land tenure will certainly be necessary when the country becomes settled; but no wonder it is in such a state when we are governed by tbat d d old fool, Buckshot Eorster. " Mr Forster inquired at the bar for the name of his vis-a-vis, and will probably press an appointment upon him one of those days.—World.
