Banks, Christchurch, P. Cunningham and Co., A. Moore and Co., and Royse, Stead and Co., for wheat; MoConnell Bros., Christchurch, for bacon and hams. Second prizes :E. H. Banks, P. Cunningham and Co., A. Moore and Co., G. Pannell, Royse, Stead and Co., of Christchurch, Western District Agricultural and Pastoral Association, Riverton, Job Vile, Mastertou, Metherell Bros., Havelock, and P. Batel and Co., Arrow Otago, for wheat; James Goodwin, Pigeon Bay, Canterbury, for cheese; James Eagle, Christchurcb, for haras and bacon ; Macdonald and Miller, Greenland, Dunedin, for bacon.
Mauritius advices to the 29th January report that the engagements of sugar for Adelaide is 455 tons, and for Hobson Bay up to 2500 tons, but tbe tonnage has not yet cleared. The market has a hardening tendency in consequence of the decreasing stocks of sugar. The election of a member in place of thelateMrA. K. Smith, took place to-day, and resulted in the return of Mr Walsh, a Constitutionalist, by a large majority. Sailed, Albion for the Bluff. February 9.
