LONDON.
January 9. The Dutch in Natal are showing signs of disaffection, and it is rumoured that Sotchefstrom, the town attacked by tbe Boers, has surrendered. There has been an expose in Birmingham of overtures on the part of the Nihilists for the construction of infernal machines for the purpose of destroying the docks in Russian ports. There have been 1100 evictions and
1700 outrages during the last eleven months.
The betting is 2to 1 on Hanlon for the forthcoming boat race, but it is quiet. Mr James O'Reilly, M.P., for Roscommon, and other Leaguers, are proving very obstructive. Yesterday they made use of tbe forms of the House, and delayed the progress of business over three hours. A scene of confusion followed, and the attitude assumed by the Leaguers has generally been condemned. The members ot the Irish Land League are prosecuting the agitation with continued vigor. They threatened to bring before illegal courts which they have established all tenants who do not sympathise with the general purposes of the Leaguers and give the movement substantial support.
