The harvest has commenced in most districts, and the yield and quality of the grain promise to be exceptionally good. The Lyttelton Naval Brigade yester day elected the following officers :—First Lieutenant, Hugh McLellan; second, Aubrey B. P. Pyemont ;* third, Frank Drantfield ; surgeon, T. Rouse. The following cricketers have been selected to practice for the match with the Australians :—C. Firth, W. Firth, W. H. Leack, E. Fowler, Ashby, Bord, Cotterill, Corfe, Fuller, Fooke, Hortland, Ollivier, Redmayne, Reeves, Secreton, Stevens, Watson, and Wilkins. Fifteen will be selected from these.
