SOUTHERN TELEGRAMS. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

WANGANUI, Saturday. THE NOMINATI N. At the nomination to-day, the Hon. Mr. Fox wai proposed by Mr. Watt, and seconded by Mr. Duigan. Mr. Watt was severe upon Sir Julius Vogel for abandoning the colony at the present crisis. He urged that the Hon. Mr. Fox, who assisted in initiating the Vogel policy, wan the best man to carry out that policy, and would be best able to cope with the obstructionists now in Parliament. Sir George Grey would meet more than his match in the Hon. Mr. Fox. (flgSithout previous intimation, Mr. Morgan ,4aa brought forward by Mr. Tookes and Mr. Howe, chiefly on the ground that no communication having been had with the Hon. Mr. Fox, it would be folly to elect him, and he might go into the Upper House. Mr. Morgan, who ia a farmer, is a ihrewd, practical man, and will command a large country support, and, of course, the publicans will work for him. Mr. Watt and party will fight hard for the Hon. Mr. Fox. Mr. Watt, you will remember, retired before ia favour of the Hon. Mr. Fox, and wu enly beaten in the election by Sir Julius Vogel. There were 16 hands for the Hon. Mr. Fox and 11 for Mr. Morgan, who demanded a poll. I am not at all sure that the Hon. Mr. Fox will win. [PKK TEK3S AGENCY.]
