The anniversary services in connection with tho Union-street Wesleyan Sunday school were held on Sept. 10. The moi ning seimon was preached by the Rev. W Kirk, who took as his text Matthew vii., 7 S. \ collection was made at tho close of the sermon and resulted in £1 10s. 5d. being taken up. The afternoon address to parents and fi iends was to have been delivered by the llcv. W. J. Watkius, but owing to the Hints-, of his wife he was unable to attend, and Ins place vas supplied by the Rev. T Buddie. The collection at this service amounted to £1 0a. 3d. Aithur spoke brielly on the importance of Sabb itli school works.— Mr. G. Rhodes gave some of his lemin iscences of Union -street Sunday-school. — Choir : "Daniel's Band."— Mr. Caradus proposed, and Mr. T. Buddlo seconded a vote of thanks to Mr. Suit for teaching the children tho anniversary hymns, to Mr. R. Redfern for presiding at the harmonium, and to the ladies who had kindly given the tiays for the tea. The motion was carried by acclamation. — Mr. Buddie also notified the service of song, which was to tak« place next night.— Tho meeting was brought to a close by the sinking of the Doxology, and the pronouncing of the benediction. The Rev. Mr. Taylor held Divine serTice at S. Brido'i Church, Manku, on Aug. 27, and administered the Holy Svcramont. Previous to the service, the Church Committee assembled in the vestry to receive tho presentation of a silver communion service, kindly subscribed for by two ladies in England (£5 each), Bishop Cowie (£2), and tho Bishop of Lichfield (£1). The service was oUtained by Mr. Crispe, through the kindness of a friend in England, at the manufacturer's pi ice, and is Biir.ple and elegant. The KiRhtRov. Dr. Cowie. Binhop of Auokland, on Aug. 25 delivered one of the winter series of leotures in the large room of the Young Men's Christian Association. Tho subject chosen by his Lordship wa» "Tho Canon of tho Now Testament." Captain Daldy occupied the chair.
