A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

A mvn named William Whittuighatn was the aubject of a serious accident on Monday afternoon. Whittingham, it appears, was employed on the site of the proposed new Primitive Methodist Church, Wellington street, and observing that Mr. Campbell, the milkman, who was gaing past with a horse he was unable to control, he went forward to his assistance. Before Wbittingham got up to the horse it turned round and gave the unfortunate man a frightful blow with hia hind foot in his fact. Mr. Campbell s scured the attendance of Dr. Dawaon, who dressed the wounds, and re» coramendad that the man should be taken to tha Hospital. A cab vm procured, and he was at once removed thither. On hia arrival Dr. Philson discovered that the man's jaw had been fractured, and that he had been otherwise injured. As Whittingham is an elderly man it is n matter of doubt as to whether he will ultimately recover from the injuries which he has received. He atill lies in a very precarious state. Whittingham resides in rarnell, and in a marriad man with a very large family.
