RE-OPENING OF THE PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE.

After having been closed for an unusually long period, the Prince of Wales Theatre is to-night to be reopened, for what it is believed will prove a very brilliant" season. The lessee, Mr. R. J Do Lias, lias on extraordinarily high terms succeeded in engaging An artiste who ia accredited from America •nd Australia as being wonderfully clever. "Nell, the Californian Diamond," as she is termed in the play-bills, will to-night make her first appearance in Auckland in the play of " No Name," written for her. This play gives her an opportunity of exhibiting her skill in singing, dtvuoiug, and banjo and guitar playing. She also plays upon an instrument which is as yet, unuamed, consisting of wood and straw. Tho company to support this "star" is a very •trong one, comprising, together with established favourites like Mr. and Mrs. Soarle,. a new comedian, Mr. George Giddcns. To-night being the fashionable night, there is no doubt that the dreis-circle wdl bo well filled. The attractions on the stage will more than 1 suffice to crowd the other parts of the house.
