Rksihtancb to a Constabi.k. - John Kingsbury was charged with resisting Seigeant Mulyillt in the execution of his duty. -Sub-In ■pector Pardy said that this kind of offence wjs much on the increase lately, and wan fraught with great danger ; in fact, a man who en deavoured to prevent the police faking .ipyone into custody committed a most serious crime, the result of which might lead to gieat pei-onal injury, perhaps to death and muidei. — Sergeant Mulville then described tho circumstances of the case He h id afmted the man Murphy, above mentioned, When prisoner said he would not allow Iiih unite to be locked up, and caught hold of the seigeunt and clung to him closely with great tenacity. --In answer to Mr. Bfiratow, witness said that prisoner did not strike him — Mr. Pardy said that fact did not lesien the offence at all ; it was easier to deal with <i man who stood off and •truck blown than with one who persistently clung around the peison and clogged all action. His Worship said that it had become necessary to check the increase of violations of the law in thin respect.
