CHEAP TRAINS— A NEW IDEA.
To the Editor : Sir,— Now we have so much sickness iu our midst, I am astonished that somo more able pen than mine has not agitated what would be most desirable for those in hoalth, as well as for the convalescent : that is cheap trains running to Onohunga at different intervals during the day, commencing at six m the niorniug. to enable those confined all day in businesu to take a run oilt and back in time for breakfast, the charge should be Gd. return tickets. It can bo done, and I do not see, instead of taking five why they could not take 500. In many of the inland towns and cities m England they have cheap bathing trains, mnning the distance, in some instances, of over 15 miles, with retnrn-tickcti for Gd., and it is not an unusual thing to see 1,500 to 2,000 every morning availing themselves of this cheap trip. Hundreds go who never bathe, merely for the purposo of breathing the fresh sea breeze, which enables them to stand the fatigues of the day. Surely the same can be done here with half the distance. If the Government cannot do it let them give up the line to those that would, and with cheap fares, not only will thu health of the people be better, but they will find that it will pay them handsomely. Good Tomplars, fathers of families and one and all agitate until tail most desirable end is accomplished.-! am, &o., Fresh Air.
