BLONDIN.

The monster arena was the scene yesterday evening of many of Chevalier Blondiu's most exciting fears, and au unusually gorgeous display of fireworks. There were between two and three thousand perboni? present. It w.is expected that on this occasion the great funambulist would peiforra at his best, and those who w cut with that anticipation were not disappointed. The Chevalier commenced by walking along the rope as usual m the chain armour of a Knight Templar, after which ho donned the ordinary acrobatic attne, and ran and danced along the rope to a lively tune played by the band, and stood upon his head. Next he was blindfolded, and a bag thrown over his head, when he again danced along the rope, lay down, and pretended to miss his footing. This poition of the performance was amusing rather than sensational, because of the evident art with which the feinta were made. Next came the feat of wheeling the barrow and dropping the dummy figure, winch we noticed in a former issue. The cleverest feats of the evening, and which we believe the Chevalier has only done once before in Auckland, were those of sitting upon a chair on the rope, balancing himself on the chair with Ins feet raised Irom the rope, standing upon the seat of the chair, standing upon one rail of the chair, &c. He then carried Monsieur Niand across the rope, actually dancing to the music. The grand display of fireworks brought the performance to a close. The applause wai frequent and warm. The Chevalier will give another entertainment this evening, with reduced prices for adnnssiou.
