Drunkunnk^s. — John Morgan was fined 5s., and J. (l&ry 10s. and costs with the usual alternative. Assault.— Two cases of assault, William Grace assaulting Margaret Merrigan, and Johanna Grace assaulting Thomas Menigan, were adjourned till Thursday next. — Mr. Laishley appeared for the Mevrigans, and Stated that Mr. Joy was engaged for the other side, but could not appear as he was engaged elsewhere. Abusive Laxouai.'k. — A charge! by Mr. Sam Poole against Mr. John Sswceitey for using abusive language, on the 1st January, was by consent of the Court withdrawn. — Mr. Laishley, for Mr. Sweeney, said a satisfactory arrangement had been made. Breach ok Pmsox Regulations. — Thomas Morris, alicu> Hill, was charged with attempting to hold communication with the prisoners at the gaol.— 'John McDermott, warder at the gaol, proved the offence. — Robeit Thompson was then charged with a siiniliar offence in company with the last prisoner. — The same witness gave testimony against him, as he had done against Morris. They were each fined £5 and costs, with the alternative of one month's imprisonment with hard labour. Window Smashing. — The same two men Were charged with wilfully destroying two panes of glass the property of Mr. Frank Quick, worth £2 4s. The windows were in a 'bus, in which they were conveyed to the lock-up. — Warder Peacock deposed to their wilfully breaking the glass in their efforts to escape. They drove their heads through the windows. In attempting to pull Thompson back, witness cut his hands. — Warder Seabrooke detailed the particulars. — The warders were obliged to take them back to the gaol, aud put two pair of handcuffs and one pair of leg-irons on each — William O'Brien proved the value of four panes of glass and some frames which had been broken to bo £2 4s.— They were ordered to pay £2 18s. or in default to be imprisoned for another month with hard labour. ResisTinO THE Police.— The same two men were then charged with resisting Constables Peacock and Seabrooke, whilst in the execution of their duty. The constables proved the case. — The prisoners were ordered to be imprisoned for one month with hard labour.— No alternative was given in this case.
