HEAVY GALE AT WELLINGTON.
WELLINGTON, Saturday. Incessant and very heavy cold rain has prevailed aince the morning, and is atill coming down, with a stiff south-east gale. The higheat tide *een since tho tidal wave has also to be lecorded. The water was level with tho top of Brown's wharf, aud nine inches deep on the watermen's gridiron. All their boats are afloat, The erection of an additional new hall for public amusement is now being projected here. NELSON, Saturday. A lunch on board the ' Hawea ' was given to-day. About 50 were present, including the Superintendent and most of the leading citizens. She sails North this evening.
