THE FIRST OF MAY.

From an early hour this morning many guns and dogs will be playing sad havoc amongst the pheasants in all the districts of this province. The present season has been a veiy favourable one for the birds, and from all accounts we can hear they are likely to be very numerous and in good condition. By the Provincial Government Gazette Mhich was issued last night, we learn that 140 licenses to kill game had been issued up to four o'clock yesterday afternoon.
