Captain Holmes reports pauing the schooner Prince Rupert to the southward of the Eist Cape, and in the Bay Of Plenty, tho Columbia, and another ■choonor whoie name was not made out, all apparently bcuud for Auckland. The s.s. Southern Cress is appointed to leavo for Napier at 2 p.m. to-morrow. The fine irou brig liio Logo came alon^sldo the outer end of tho Outeu-street Wharf yesterday, to lake m tho lemainder of her outward cargo. Tho ship Miltiade3 left tho -wharf early yesterday morning, and dropped down to the man of-war anchorage on the ehb-tido She cleared out for Melbourne, with a ■mall general cargo, and sailed yesterday evening. The small new steamer Waitara mado her trial trip yesterday afternoon, and the result was very satisfactory. Her engines,designed by Mr. Lodder and constructed by Messrs. Fraser and Tinne, aio high pressure, of 10 nominal and 45 iml ucvti.il horse power, making 178 revolutions per minute, and driving the boat at the rate of eight knots per hour. She leaves for T*ranaki at the latter end of the week. The s.i. Star of the South sails to-day for Levuka, at 5 p.m. Captain Fjrqahar again aaiumes command, and Captain Palmer will await tho arrival of tho s.h Pretty Jane, now nearly due. The Government p s. Luna, Captain Fairchild, arrived in tho Mauukau at midnight on Monday, with the Suez mail ; and toolc her departure for the South at 1 p.m. yestoiday. The a.s. Taranaki, Captain Wheeler, is due from Southern ports to-day, and h announced to sail on her return trip at 2.30 p.m. on Friday next
