AUCKLAND PERMANENT COOPERATIVE BUILDING AND INVESTMENT SOCIETY.
A special general meeting of this Society was held last evening, the president— Dr. Nicholson— occupying the chair ; most of the members of the committee were present. The advertisement convening the meeting having been rend, it was unanimously resolved on the m.tion of Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Compton, "That Mr. John Koberton be olected a trustee of the Society. —Mr. Cherry moved, "That the preienfc rule No. 10 be amended by striking out the last clause thereof from the word ' 1Q* to the word 'occurring' inclusive, and inserting tho following words in lieu thereof, viz., ' Any casual vacancy occurring in tho committee shall be rilled up by the committee, but any person so chosen shall retain hit office so long only as the Tacating member of committee would have retained the same if no vacancy h.i* • cc.irred.' — The resolution was seconded by Mr. W. S. Coohrano, and carried nem con. Mr. Garland moved ' That the preient rule No. 33 be altered by substituting the word ' ene ' for the word ' two ' in the fifth line of the said rule. Seconded by Mr. Watts, aud oarricd. Tho presideut announced that it had become necessary on account of the prolonged absence from the colony of Mr. Heather, one of the sooiety'i trustees to eleot another ti ustee in his place, and a meeting would accordingly be held for that purpose on Thursday the 10th instant. The secretary stated that since the 31st March last, more than 2,000 new shares had been iisued, and that the increase in busineM of the iooiety had made it nectuary for the committee to meo twiee a menih in future.
