f n the Resident Magistrate's Court to-day the case James Garvey v. S. T. Warner came on for hearing. Damages were laid at £50, for illegal seizure of Bright Smile shares. It appeais there was a contribution due by a James Garvey in the Sea Lion Company's estate, and Warner, thinking James Garvey the man, issued a writ of attachment against the Smile shares. The writ was held for several days before the mistake was discovered and the attachment withdrawn. Meantime Bright Smile stock fell in value. They now sued for the difference. Judgment was given for £34, with £8 costs. Golden Crown. — 501b. of rich specimens to-day. There is a good show of gold left in the face. The last white man left Whangamata today, and he reports the place to be absolutely deserted by gold-diggers. A gum rush occurred up the creek, where there are now 100 Maoris. McMillan is going to remove his store there. Kukanui. — A jjood haul of specimens was got from deep leader 20-fathom level. Caledonia v. — There is a capital show of gold in the air shaft l«ader. Otacjo. — Crushing commenced last night. The plate show of amalgam is about lioz. to the ton. The Elysium Gardens, Tararu, were sold under writ by Mr. Craig, auctioneer, and realised £250. Mr. Wells was the purchaser. Market ijuiet. Sales : Caledonian, £17, £1G 15s.; closed weak. jHarbour View, 9s. ; Nonpareil, 25a. 6d. ; Black Angel, 24s. 6d.
