AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. Mr. Alfred Bucklynd's Report. — At the Haymaiket on Saturday last fodder was in moderate supply only, and at lower values. Chaff of indifferent quality brought Is Gd ; meadow hay of good quality brought 3s and 3s 3d ; oaten hay, 3s 9d to 5s the cwfc. There was a fuller than usual muster of draught stock ; extreme prices were required for them, and seveial vere withdrawn. Those sold brought from £35 to £50 each ; riding and light harness hoises from £8 to £13 15s ; inferior hcises fiom i.4 15a. The sale of wool, skin?, hides, and hemp was well attended by buyers Hides showed an improvement in pi ice; they brought 4Ad and 4,' d the lb. Sheepskins were keenly competed for; best quality bi ought 9fd the lb.; longwool in gi ease, 13 |d to 13d ; halfbred wool, Bld to 10,' d the lb. Hemp was at lower values than for the past two months. Native-diessed unscutched brought ■£13 ; machine-dressed medium quality, £24 to £27 ; best quality, £29 to £3 f i the ton. Above 50 tons were sold. —At Eeniueia, on Thursday, dairy cattle weie again at lower \ allies. A fuU market of store cattle, mostly young stock from 8 to IS months old, met with a dull sale, and seveial pens weie withdrawn, and grown cattle scarcely maintained last week's rates. Fat cattle were in full supply, 151 head penned. The advance of last week was fairly sustained, prices ruling as follow : — Dairy cows, £3 2s G 1 to £G 10s ; weaned calves, £L 4s to £1 12s 6d ; yearlings, £2 to £4 ; three-year-olds, £5 7 s Gd to £5 17s 6d each. Fat cattle, £1 10s to £1 12s the 1001b. Meiino sheep, in their wool, 13s ; half-bred sheep, 15s ; shorn sheep, 3d to 3{cl the lb. Fat lambs were abundant, but the greater number too young for profitable sale — best animals brought 14s to 18s 6d ; small-sized, Ss to 12s each. Pigs Avere in limited number, and met with a free sale. Messrs. Hunter and Nolans Report. — Horses : Dullness has characterised the market. The supply has not been so good as for some time past, nor has an active demand existed. The number enteied for sale by auction on Friday last was below the average; bidding was slow and vendois looked for higher values, while piuchaaera expected a concession ; consequently several weie withdrawn, and sales weie restricted at low pi ices. Cattle: There has been a continuous supply, and fair demand has existed : consequently a large number have been disposed of with little alteration in value. The dairy cows at calving offered have beeu of very intenor dcscuption. An inquiry has existed* for good animals, which could have been placed at satisfactory lates, while those ofFeied were heavy of sale. For -well-lTed grown steers tbeie was good competition, and prices were sustained. Low-conditioned and coai'se-bred young stock were not in quite so good demand, and for some pens prices receded a little, — At the Wade there \\ as a fair muster of stock, but limited number of btiyeis. Fat beasts wore iv tolerable supply, and good demand has existed, with brisk competition, particnlaily for well-fatted animals. Dairy cows bold from £5 10a to £7 12s Gd ; thiee-year-old steers, £5 to £6 2s Gd ; four-year-old steers, well-conditioned, from £7 to £S ; yearlings, from £2 to £2 12s Gd ; calves, from 25s to 37s Gd ; beef, fiom 27s Gd to 35s per 1001b. Sheep : Supply very short ; medium description, sheading, from 14s to lGs. Lambs in better supply, selling at from JOs to 17s Gd.
