The provisions and oilmen's stores on board are valued at £2,270 ; salt fish, £320. There is also a large quantity of drapery, clothing, and miscellaneous merchandise. The only other arrival during the week requiring notice was the ' City of Adelaide/ which, brought a comparatively small cargo, including 19 cases, 10 f-boxes tobacco, 100 bags rice, 19 boxes candles, 25 cases sardines, 2 tea, and 360 gunnies sugar. The imports of breadstuff's have been very small, the only parcel received during the week being 50 tons of flour by the ' City of Adelaide, and the total receipts of breads! uffs last month amounted to 388 tons. There are various parcels of Auckland wheat coining into town, which are readily placed at 6s 6d, the price given for Adelaide grain. It is satisfactory to find that the millers consider Auckland wheat fully equal to that from Adelaide in respect of quality. Although^ farmers have frequently complained that this province will not grow wheat, the samples brought forward and the general yield this year, both for quality and quantity, have proved eminently satisfactory, where the cultivation has been scientifically carried on. Canterbury wheat is quoted at 5s 3d to 5s 6d per bushel, being fully a shilling lower than is given lor Auckland grain. Flour at the mills still ranges from £14 to £16 per ton. Adelaide flour is worth £16 ; Canterbury, £12 to £14. In horse feed, we notice a scarcity of maize, which sells readily at from 4s Gd to 4a 9d per bushel ; the • City of Adelaide ' brought 648 bushels. A quantity of oata are advised of as being on the way, and quotations at present stand at from 3s 3d to 3a Cd per bushel. The auction s<vles during the week were unimportant, and there is no change to report in respect of general merchandise. "Wo notice with pleasure evidences of the continuance of a steady trade with the Fiji Islands. This week the 'Julia Price* left for Levuka with a good cargo of timber and general merchandise.
