Commence again at Ist row. Eor any purpose that would render ib desirable, this pattern can also be knitted on 4 needles (leaving out, of course, the edge stitches), the only difference being that ( tha alternate rows must then be plain instead of purl, and in the 27th row it will be found necessary to pass the Ist stitch without knitting it to the right-hand needle before commencing, and leave it there, knitting it at the end of row to pass the slipped stitch over. In like manner, at the end of each needle, 1 stitch must be taken from the next, to enable the stitch to be knitted, over which the slipped one is passed.
