Coromandel, September 16. The Nil Deaperandum machine has just finished a crushing of 18 tons for the Swedish Crown, with the rather unsatisfactory return of G$oz. JJreBb. finds and good prospects seem to como to light almost every day from the different parts of the field. The beach portion aeema to attract a deal of attention, owing to the fine result obtained from 10 tons crashed a day or two aiuce from the Green Harp Claim, which ia very encouraging to the owners. The New Zealand Company's battery is incessantly at work oa tha Tokatea stone, which is turning out wonderfully \rell, and promises another good dividend early next weak. Ground in. good positions is still eagerly secured, «od many leaaes have been, applied for during the past week or two. A very valuable piece of ground, known as the Flying Cloud Claim, has also been taken up on lease. This claim usually gave a steady monthly yield for over 12 months, and ia woil known to contain rich runs of gold ; and probably the works got too extensive for ignorant minors to grapple with.—[Correspondent.]

Mr Charles Sanderson, C.K, has met; with an untimely death at the saw-mill at Tairua. s Mr. Sanderson was in charge of the works there, and on Thursday last, about height o'clock in the moraine, he was engaged an' examination of the machinery, when his clothing was caught in the' machinery and -he- wa* drawn in. His arms and 'legs were instantly broken, and he was otherwise fearfully injured. The machinery was Stopped at once, but the injuries be redtiyed, were fatal. He lingered until twelre o'clock, when death put an 1 end to his .suffering*.The body was interred on the following l da£.
