Mb. Wokthington, our restoring schoolmaster, has been presented, by hia pupils, with a very handsome writing-desk, as a token, of respect and .esteem, and also an expression of their regret at hia leaving them. Mr. Worthington is about to take tbe management of an educational establishment at the North Shore, Auckland ; and, being a gentleman of great abilities, I am Biiro he will find a greater appieciation.in a mor« populous district than iv the place ho is now leaving. He has stated that he leaves his school with regret, and that ho hopes his successor, the Rev. Mr. Bates, will succeed in carrying out the principles already instilled in the minds of the young folka of Papakura. — Our respected Magia. trate, C. Mellsop, Esq., is building a very handsome residence on tho farm lately purchased by him from Mr. Cobloy, of the Thames, and already the grounds are being laid out in the style of an English park, and it will, when completed, be a great ornament to our little township.— Our prospecting party just now is very quiet, but, having only a few days ago returned from their expedition, we shall hear further as to their probable prospects of sucooss.—[Correspondent.]
