DRURY : SCHOOL MATTERS.

The usual quarterly meeting of the Drary School Committee was held on the evening of the 28 th instant. Present — Rev. Tj ]Norrie (chairman), and Messrs. Blake, Hamilton, S. Oossey, and Alexander (acting - secretary). A communication was read from [the Central Board of Education informing t the committee that the appointment of Mr. ' Hugh McLeod as drill-instructor, had heen ', confirmed. A report from Mr. McLeod was also given of the satisfactory progress of the \ scholars in this department. The committee , unanimously agreed to the following resolution : —^That the Central Board of Education be informed that the drill-instruction given at this school is generally appreciated, and the committee hope that the Board will continue their grant for the paitial payment of the drill instructor's salary." A. letter was read from the Board of Education annouueing that an increase in the salary of the teacher had beea granted at the rate of £10 a year, to be reckoned from Ist April last. The committee agreed to express their thanks to the Boar.l for their liberality, and also to the chairman of the committee for the interest he had taken in the matter, by the repeated applications he had made for this grant. The school was reported as nourishing under the care of Mrs. Miller, being well attended and in -an efficient state. — [Coirespondent.]
