HOME FOR NEGLECTED AND DESTITUTE CHILDREN. TO THE EDITOR.

Sru,—Whilst thankfully acknowledging the kindness with *vhich you have called attention to the Home for Neglected and Destitute Children, the committee will be anxious to correct the impression youi report is, in one particular at least, calculated to leave on the public mind. It is doubtless true that the Piovincial Government might, if it so pleased, pay the axaount voted to the institution in ono sum at the beginning of the year, but it is right that the public should be informed that one-half of the £250 was paid some time ago, and there is ho doubt the remainder will be forthcoming in due time. We believe the committee would most cordially unite m a full and frank acknowledgment of the very liberal spirit with which the claims of the institute have ever been recognised by the Provincial Government, as also by the general public of this city and province. Allow us to add that the woik of the Society foi the Relief of Neglected aud Destitute Children te but in its minor and earliest form, and that a much more generous support is a it necesoary as it is expected, th.it the objects contemplated may in some wuibhy ilegieo be realised. —We aie, &c, R H.
