" A BEAU JOUR BEAU BETOUR."
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I have been told to look on Mr. May as the ne plus ultra of political perfection. I have up to the present time done so. My confidence in that gentleman, however, was considerably shaken this morning on learning that the following dialogue took place b jtween him and Mr. Hurst : — Mr. May : " Well, Hurst, your conduct in dismissing Carter is most shameful. I had intended to give you an order for 50 bushels of clover seed, but now I intend to go elsewhere. You shall haA r e none of my custom. He is a friend of mine, and you should not have listened to anything that was said against him." Now, sir, I desire to give Mr. May an opportunity of denying this, in "which case I shall think of him as I hare ever done. — Believe me, yours, J. G. Fbeek. Cliff House, February 11, 1871.
