Mr. Alfred Buckland's Report. — At the Haymarket, on Saturday last, small loads of good hay were in demand, aud satisfactory prices were given for them. Large loads of hay were dull of sale. Meadow hay brought from 2s to 3s 3d the cwt. ; oaten hay, 3s to 3s 6d the cwt. Horse stock j were dull of sale ; not more than a fourth of those offered were quitted. Riding horses brought from 41. 10s to 51. 15s ; draught horses, 91. to 221. each. At Remuera, on Thursday, there was an improvement in value of dairy cattle at profit ; they brought from 11. 15s to %. 12s 6d each. Calves were plentiful — they ■ rough t from 26s to 355; yearlings, 42s to 80s ; two- to three-year-olda, from 100s to 160s each. Fat cattle were in average supply ; 96 head sold to the trade. Prices were very irregular, and with a downward tendency. Those of prime quality brought last week's rates, from 27s 6d to 30s the 1001b, \ Tt/ufc medium and inferior animals were at low values — in some instances not more than 24s the 1001b. The sheep market was fully supplied both with fat and store stock. Store sheep have for some time >>een in short supply, and are in demand. Store ewes brought from 4s 9d to 8s 9d. Lambs from 2s 9d to 5s each. Fat sheep were in excess of requirements, and prices were lower than last week a halfpenny per pound. Fat lamba were also plentiful, and of good quality ; they were lower 2s to 4s each than for several weeks. Pigs were more numerous than usual ; they met with a free sale at a slight advance over late markets. Hunter and Nolans Report. — Horses: The market has been depressed, and transactions limited. On Saturday, about the usual number offered at auction, but there was a lack of spirit in the bidding, and sales were limited. There is an unsatisfied inquiry for good upstanding young horses, which might be placed at fair figures. We quote hacks from 41. to 81. 15s ; light draught horses from Ql. to 141. 15s. Cattle : There has not been quite so much activity in the market as for the last two weeks; about the average number of store stock offered, but the demand was not quite so good aa the previous week. The dairy cows offered continue of inferior description, with but little upward tendency in price. Fat beasts were in moderate numbers, but an indisposition was evinced by the trade to purchase, except for immed ate requirements, at prices ranging from 27s 6d to 30s per 1001b. Dairy cows sold from 11. 5s to 81. 10s each. Yearlings and calves, from 11. 10s to 31 15s each ; two- and three-year-old steers, from 41. 7s 6d to 61. ss. Sheep were penned ■ in considerable numbers, the supply of store being better than for some time. Fat Sheep : Adequate prices receded a little. Lambs : Equal to requirements, with little alteration in value ; half-bred.B sold from Us to 16s ; larnbo, from (5s to 9s ; store ewes, from 6s 6d to 7s 3d each. Figs scarce ; medium weights in good demand.
