The war is affecting the tobacco trade of America adversely, France and Germany being the largest consumers of Europe, and with England requiring, during the year ended June 30, 1870, 186,000,000 pounds of leaf tobacco, 2,064,000 cigars, and 20,181 pounds of snuff.
