AUCTION SALES.

Messrs. S. Cochrane and Soa solddn December I— Double break drag, 122. ; saddles, from 22. 2s 6d to 22. 18s ; seta harness, from 32. to 51. la. At Messrs. L.J D. Nathan and Co. 's sale, of tobacco, cigars, &c, on December 9,^ , the following prfces were realised : — Havan- .- nah shape Manilas, 67s 6d ; tobacco, Knick- - erbocker, tens-, 9Jd to 9^d ; Milner'a tens, ' 9d to 9£d per lb. ; Venus tens, Is Bjd ; Sovereign vestas, 2505, 20s per gross. On December 9, Mr. Alfred Buckland held a sale of wool in grease, bags of washed wool, locks and pieces, and hides, at the Haymarket. The sale was fully attended by the trade. Washeil -wools brougW. from • 7f dto 10£ d; wool in grease, 4d to 6d ; locks and pieces, from lfd to 4d ; dry skins, 3d to 4d the lb. ; hides, 14s each. Messrs. Cochrane and Son held an extensive sale of hams, cheese, butter, sugar, &c, on December 28. The following prices were obtained : — Hams, 7£d to 9|d • butter, 5d ; sugar (Honolulu), 4fd ; and cheese, 4|d. Messrs. L. D. Nathan and Co. sold on December 21 — American brooms, 255 ; Lea and Perrin's sauces, 12s9d; half-pints salad oil, 7a 3d; Morton's pickles, 12s ; sago, 3Jd ; Scores' washing crystals, 7s per gross ; maizena, s|d fo s|d ; guava jelly, 29s 6d ; soda crystals, 5s 9d per cwt. ; bottled limejuice (English), 11s 6d per dozen ; Allsopp's ale, 5s 6d per dozen ; Base's ale, in bond, 7s Sot. ; almonds, 8d ; wines and spirits, no offer. Messrs. B. Tonks and Co. sold at their mart, Queen-street, on December 22 — Choice vases, 8s 6d to 15s ; medallion vases, 4s 9d each ; lustres, 12. 4a to 12. 14s. The wool sale on December 18 was fully attended both by local dealers and merchants. At opening of sale prices were equal to those obtained a fortnight since ; but after the wool in grease waa sold pi ices were lower from |d. to Id. per lb. Wool in grease brought from 4£d. to 6sd. per lb. Washed, 7d to 10£ d. Several of the larger parcels were passed, Hunter anil "Nolan hpld a sale of wool, skins, flax, &c, at noon on December 23, at Laurie's stores, Custom-house-street. There was a fair attendance of buyers, and, with only one or two exceptions, all the lota were disposed of. The highest price obtained for longwool was lOd ; and an improvement in price for wool in grease was observable.
