ARRIVAL OF THE SANTIAGO FROM LIVERPOOL.

The barque Santiago, from Liverpool, arrived in harbour on Monday, December 26, after a fair passage. Besides 18 passengers she also brought a full general cargo. Captain Mill, who is spoken of very highly by his passengers, has furnished us with the following report of the passage :— The Santiago left Liverpool on September 7, with a fresh gole from the S.W. On September 10, at noon, passed Scilly Islands. Light easterly airs and calru3 to Madeira, which we passed on the 25th. Got the N.TC. c>-ades in 26 30 N. ; lost them in 14 • N. Light variable airs and calms to 3' N., when we got the breeze from the S.W., hauling gradually south as we approached the equator. Crossed in 25" W., 40 days out. Gob the S.E. trades in 2" S. ; lost them in 23" S. Pcisaed Tristan d'Acunha on November 3, 57 days oub. Passed the meridian of the Cape of Good Hope on November 14, G8 clays out. Ran easting down botwoon 414 1 ) 1 and 46' ; sighted Tasmania on December 12, 90 days oub. Passed South Cape on the 13th from there to North Cape, New Zealand, wind from N.W. to N., light. Passed Norbh Cape at noon on the 22nd, 106 days out. Passed Cape Brett on the 23rd ; sighted the Great Barrier on the 24th. Calms and light airs from the southward. At 10 p.m. sighted Tiritiri light; fresh gale from the northward, and thick weather, with heavy rain. On the 25th, at 4 a.m., wind hauling round south, beating down the Gulf ; 26th, at 6 a.m., Cime to anchor in the harbour. Passengers: William, Ellen, John, James, George, and Lizzie Youug ; William, Elizabeth, Annie, and Jessie Donald ; J. S. and Mary Ann Cobley, and child ; W. H. and Marie Maxwell, and child. H.M. ship 'Galatea' arrived in harbour on December 7, having on board H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh. On his former visithe came as a member of the Royal Family, but this time he simply comes as a captain in the British navy. The ' Galatea ' arrived at four o'clockin themorning. She'eame from Sydney via New Caledonia. On the 16th she left Sydney, and for two days afterwards encountered very severe weather, but sustained no damage save having a few sails spent. On the 27th she arrived at Noumea, and left ther* next day.
