A CASE FOR THE CHARITABLE.

We have heard of a case which demands the attention of the Ladies' Benevolent Society, and the active sympathy of all Humane persons : A woman, whose husband is now at Hokitika, and is too poor to send sufficient money for her maintenance, has been for some time past dependent upon casual charity and assistance. She is encumbered with an infant, |and is therefore unable to obtain a situation. Mr. Dundas, of the United States Dining Rooms, was kind enough to give the poor woman food and shelter for a fortnight.
