Drunkenness.— John Buckley was tinea for drunkenness. Assaulting the Police.— The same person was also charged with assaulting constable Sheldon, while on duty m Queensheet on Friday evening.— Prisoner heard that he was drunk and did not know what he was doing.— Sentence, one mouths imprisonment, with hard labour. I'ighting in the Public Street.— Michael Jlaffcrty and James Callagherg were charged with a breach of the Vagrant Act, having been fighting in an open place oft Hobsoo-strcet, near the Governor Browne Hotel.— The constable gave evidence.— Fined 10s. each ; alternative : ,48 hours imprisonment. The fine was paid. Lunatic— On the testimony of Drs. Goldsbro' and Hooper, Henry Sparrow was ordered to be taken to the Lunatic Asylum. The Court requested the constable who was present in CouH on Tuesday last, when the case of Hobbs v. Sparrow was tried, to give evidence 01 defendant's conduct on that occasion.— Constable Clark deposed : I know the person now in custody as a supposed lunatic. His name is Henry Sparrow. He was brought into Court lately in a case ; and, on that occasion, I saw by his general manner in giving his evidence that his mind was wandering. From his general conduct I believe him to be of unsound mind. Ho said, on the occasion referred to, that Mr. Hobbs had put a stain on his character at ; Hobart Town, and a good deal of money was i offered him to take it off.
