(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) MINING. Saturday.

I TAtuki;.— The Yulcdil and Bmney's Lease | sp^eiiiie/is, about which so much has been [ said, are being crushed to-day at Russell's machine, and, if the stone only yields onehalf as well as it looks, the return of gold will be worth recording. The Wild Missouri machine Is still engaged upon Californian and Yankee Dootie quartz, which makes an average show on the plates. The Californian stuff is accumulating, and hence arrangements have been made to crush, atthe Flora Macdonald and Russell's. On Monday two of the Flora Macdonald batteries will start for the Californian tributers, and So soon as a sledge road across the hill to the Little Hill shoot, which discharges close to the machine, is constructed, there will then be 30 head of stamps working for the Californian mine. The crushing for the Sunbeam Claim at the Tararu machine is turning oiifc indifferently— about ,|oz. to the ton. To-day a parcel of the gold was melted at the Bank of New Zealand, and weighed 1370z. lOdwt.

Valv. of Avoca.— 138 tons of the surface stuff I described in a former report have been pub through Western's machine, and produced 60oz. gold, not quite |,oz. the ton. Of this quantity, 28oz. lCdwt. were banked today. The return, although not so good as expected, is yet payable. Crushing the surface stuff will be resumed on Monday. Mocking Bird.— A ten-ton pa- eel of stone crushed on trial at Weston's yielded scarcely loz. gold.

Junction. — A cleaning up for this company took place yesterday at the Kuramri machine, 60 tons of stone having been crushed. The return of gold amounted to 2340z. melted at the Bank New Zealand, being at the rate of nearly 4oz. the ton. Goldek Crown. — The week's return of gold is 2680z. melted at the Bank of New ' Zealand, and 167 tons of atone were crushed.

KtiEANUi Company. —The forfcuigktly return this time is scarcely up to the average, j the yield from all sources being only 3850z. j 17dwt. melted. '

LiUJYBIKD AND HAND OP FRIENDSHIP. — The week's crushing for this mine at the Flora Macdonald machine has produced 430z. 12dwt. melted gold.

Best Wrinkle.— -A. vice little specimen crushing for this claim was effected to-day, at Mr. Spencer's, Grahamstowu. 80 tons of stouo were disposed of, and yielded 19joz j of gold. |

Tapu Gold.— lBqz. of melted gold were ! placed to the credit of the Tapu Company , by Mr. Bucklaud, to-day. Brian Boru, Tapu.— l was informed today, on good authority, that within the last few days a large reef had been cut in this claim, and the stuff tried from yielded at the rate of 2oz. the ton. From this, it woull appear that there are hopes of Tapu yet.

CRfTRRiox Machine is crushing- for the "Waitomata and Golden Age Companies, and also keeps two stampers going for the Ballarat and .Rising Sun tritraters. The stuff sent by the Jatter makes a very good show of amalgam on the tables, and bids fair to be no worse than the last lot that was crushed, and which went loz. the ton. Waitemata'Company, — The general cleaning up and retorting for this company to-day gave a handsome week's return of 117oz. of refcortool gold. This is a marked improvement upon late yields from the Waitemata mine.
