' -That opinion was in favour of committal. There had evidently been organisation that led to the assault, which according to the evidence was bothbrutal and premeditated. Taking all thefacts into consideration, he considered it would be beneficial to all parties concerned for the case to be sent to a higher Court. Ho should therefore commit the prisoners to take their trial at the next sessions of the Supreme Court • bail to be allowed, in each case £50 and two sureties in £25 each.

MINING Inverness Company. — The fortnightly cleaning-up for this company was completed on Saturday night at Iroodall's machine. The gold, G6oz. melted, was treated at the Bank of New Zealand, and was th 3 produce of 140 tons of stone.

HvrE Creek Machine —The crushing for the Pretty Nelly ig turning out much better than waa anticipated. l'2ooz. of hardsqueezed amalgam were on hand on Saturday night., and a return of ISdvvt. or loz. to the ton is looked for. The general cleaning up will take place to-morrow or the day after. A trial lot of six tons from the Prussian Claim, Gibraltar Hill, will then be put through, and a 10-tom lot from the Mount Vernon Claim. Arrangements have also been made to crush 40 tons for the Murphy Hill Claim.

Halcyon Machine. — The crushing of Star of Fermanagh quartz had to be suspended on Saturday on account of the bad roads, but the portion of the lot that went through the battery yielded 13dwt. the ton. Quartz from the Claremont Claim, Alabama Ureek, is now being treated, and looks very well indeed for a 3oz. -the-ton return.

Twjexty-thied of June (late Tradesman's), Moanataiari Creek.— An excellent crushing ior this claim was finished to-day at the Tramway machine. The leader this good stone came from strikes out of Madman's Gully through the whole length of the claim (300 ft.), and is the same, I believe, that is in hand in the No Surrender.
