Ijt the General Government Gazette of August 19, the Order in Council removing Mr. Cnesar Hastings Otway from the office of Official Agent, and appointing H. N. Warner, Esq., is published, Tin mas Ritchie. Esq., is appointed Official Auditor. The courthouse at Coromandelis abolished as a pollingplace for the district of the Thames for the election of Superintendent and members of Provincial Council. The report of Commodore Lambert, C. f \, on the cruise of the 1 Rosario to the Bounty Islands, and ' Blanche' to the Auckland Islands, is given. Captain Chrisp'a report of the cruise of the p.s. 'Challenger' in search of traces of the wreck of the • Tauranga is now published. Samuel Brennan, of Grahamstown, is appointed inspector of weights and measures for the Hairraki goldiields. Notice is given that a free pardon will be granted to any person implicated in the supposed incendiarism at the house of Mr. John Bennett, Mount St. Mary, on giving such information as will lead to the conviction ot the other offenders. William T. S. Snell is appointed lieutenant in the Aucklan 1 Troop Royal Cavalry Volunteers; date of commission 9th March, 1870. Lieutenant W. H. Porter is appointed captain in tLe Pokeuo Rangers Rifle Volunteers; date of commission 28th June, 1870: and James Reid Hendry i 3 appointed ensign in the No. 1 Company Hauraki Rifle Volunteers; date of commission. 4th June, 1870. The resignations of the commissions held by the following gentlemen have been accepted : —Lieutenant D. Campbell, Auckland Militia, and Lieutenant W. J. Casely, No. 1 Hauraki R. Y. The Tauranga Cavalry Volunteers are disbanded, at their own request, and S. Clarke, Esq., consequently ceaseB to hold the rank of lieutenant, under the provisions of the Volunteer Act, 1865. The post-office now known a8 Turanga, Poverty Bay, is henceforth to be called Gisborne. Notice is given that no transactions affecting lands formerly awarded by the Compensation Court, and the native owners of which have since been in rebellion, will be recognised by the Government. ' A transcript of the rules for the government of the Loyal Waikato Lodee M.U., L0.0.K1, F.S., duly certified, fas been lodged with the Registrar of Friendly Societies, and registered and recorded in his office. Statements of the affairs of several goldmining companies are published.
