TLo followiug is the eleventh annual report of the Victoria Life and General Insurance Company and Savings Institute :— " The directors of the Victoria Life and General Insurance Company and Ravings Institute beg leave to submit their eleventh annual report and balance-sheet, duly certified by the auditors. Your directors have to report that during the past year the business of the company has increased, especially in the Life Department. New sources of revenue have been developed, and the prosperity and stability of the Life Assurance Department permanently established. The balance to the credit of profit during the year amounts to— In the Life Department, 12,8961. 17s 2d; and in the Insurance and Savings Branch, 6,035/. 7s Sd; together, 19,532*. 4s lOd. Out of this balance of 19,532/. 4s lOd, your dircctoia now declaie a dividend of 10 per cent, on the paid-up capital, which dividend will amount to 4,000/., and also a bonus of 2s per s,haic, which will amonnt to a like sum of 4,000/., making together 20 per cent, on the paid up capital, and amounting to 8,000/. Potato sacks, 25ia. Castor Oil : Seeds still icmain scarce. Quotations lemam from 11 Srs. to 11 12rs. per maund. Lines and Jute Twine : Our quotations of 10 Grs. to 12.Gis. for lines, and of 10.4r5. to lO.Srs. for ]ute twine, are nominal; prices declining. Coals : As supplies are large, and sales are becoming difficult, Australian would not now fetch more than from 13rs. to 13 Srs Fi eights are dull in the extreme, and agents arc holding back for higher rates. It is improbable however that any improvement will take place till produce begins to an ivc more freely from the interior. Few chartcs arc reported, and vessels on the berth are filling up but slowly. The following are latest quotations to London :—Sahpetio, 25r5.; sugar, 30rs. ; lice, 30.9r5.; linsesd, 37.
