We have papers to the 17th. The Herald reports :—": — " Some timber was put up to auction on Saturday last, and a few small lots were sold at 8s 6cl the 100 ft. The market reports that appear in the Nelson papei's are very incorrect. A gentleman here, seeing potatoes quoted there at 31. 10s to 41. per ton, recently wrote to a firm in that city, offei ing a quantity at that price; but he has received a reply to the effect that potatoes are unsaleable there, even at a far lower price than that quoted. The produce shipped during the week consists of 16 bales (1 ton llcwt. 2qr. 211b.) and 2 sacks flax seed. Breadstuff's, &c. : Flour, 1001b., 14s ; Canterbury, 15s ; Adelaide, 16s ; shaqDS, 7s ; bran, ss ; wheatmeal, 12s ; oatmeal, per Ib, , 4£d ; wheat, per bushel. 5s to 6s ; oats, per bushel, 5s ; maize, 4s 6cl to 55."
