THE LEVEE.

His Excellency held his levde in the Supreme Court-house, the use of which was kindly granted by the Chief Justice, as holding the leve"e at Government House would have interfered with the arrangements for the ball. The seats and desks used by the members of the bar were removed, so as to leave the body of the Court available for his Excellency and suite, and those who had the honour of the private entree. This arrangement allowed most conveniently of those to be presented entering at one of the side doors, passing across the court, and so leaving by the opposite door and lobby. Those" forming the entree circle assembled in the Judge's Chambers ; and the general public in the entrance hall of the Court. The bench, the jury-box, the reporters' seats, 'and tlie, gallery, -were reserved for ladies; and'amongat those present were ,Lady iMartin, Mrs.' tYogety Miss Clayton,' <Mias Gpvett, .Mipj Elliptt, Mrs.JMaddison/ Mxff.
