DEDWOOD HIGHWAY DISTRICT.
A numerously-attended meeting of" the ratepayers of the above district was held at the Suffolk Hotel, College Road, on Thursday evening. Mr. Stannus Jones, one of the Dedwood Highway Trustees, was requested to take the chair. — After a general conversation on matters affecting the district, and a full explanation given by the chairman in reply to questions put by ratepayers, a vote of thanks to and confidence in the highway trustees was unanimously passed. The question of incorporating the district with any new municipality was next referred to, and strong opposition was manifested to any such proceeding. It was unanimously resolved, " That the ratepayers present object to Dedwood being united to any other Board or district ; and that, should the highway trustees consider it necessary, they should, at a future time, call a public meeting of the ratepayers, with the object of presenting a petition against any proposal to unite Dedwood with any other district, and • also to request the member for the House of [Representatives for the electoral district of which Dedwood forms a part, to oppose any bill introduced into the General Assembly having suoh an object.' 3
