LATEST THAMES NEWS. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Thursday evening.

JUST-IN-TIME. From the 'winze which ia following the leader from the surface to the main drive, some magnificent stone has been brought up daring last night, and again this morning, about lcwt. being taken out during the last twelve hours, and now in charge of the manager. A large portion of this stone is thoroughly impregnated with the precious metal, and in others partakes of a flakycharacter, the whole patch brought to grass being very rich indeed. The general stuff coming up also looks very good, gold being frequently visible in many portions of it. The leader is the same as that worked upon by the Morning Star Company, the results from which have been so good during the time they have crushed. There is a decent body of stone, the lode varying from two to three feet thick. Tbe object of the winze is to prepare a block from the main drive to the Tipper workings, and when this is do«n it will give a very large back of 130 feet to ■tope out. Very little water is now encountered in the main shaft ; the simple bailing machine in work, doing its duty remarkably well. A tramway is now almost completed, about 70 feet in length, to the main line, and j on Saturday stuff will be sent down to start six head of the Tramway battery on Monday.

MARINER'S REEF. Consideralile improvements liavebeen made since my last visit : the chamber over the main shaft has been enlarged, and the shaft itself sunk a further depth of forty-two feet below the main level, or a total of 100 feet. Here also the contractors are excavating a large chamber for depositing their stuff for a time, and after this intend driving to cut the reef, which should be tapped at thirty feet. About eighty feet from the mouth, of the tunnel a winze is going down on the lode, in order to open out that part of the mine ; this will be carried down as far as possible, and ■will then commence to drive to open a communication with the main shaft. Quartz is now being taken from the upper working, and it is intended to have a crushing immediately.

THE ALBERT COMPANY. This Company are still continuing sinking their main shaft in order to intersect the Waiotahi Company's leader, which is found in that company's shaft. These people ought to touch it between eighty and ninety feet down, after taking into account the rise in the ground. If it is not, before reaching 100 feet, they will commence driving north and south in order to cut that of the Golden Hill, as well aa the Waiotahi Company. This ground is situated in a very good neighbourhood, and both the leaders enumerated have been thoroughly tested by the claims from which they take their names, and in many instances have given rich yields.

BELFAST. Tlie general cleaning up of this company took place yesterday and was 1 etorted to-day, and, added with, the two previous leturns, the result is a magnificent one, to-day's return bemg 231 oz. letoi ted gold. .Fiointhe SO tons previously ciushed the yield was 27Goz. 4dwt., and the return to-day is from a crashing since Monday morning, making a total of about oo7oz. [ cannot give the exact quantity of stono crushed, at the moment, but it ia about 100 tons.

THE CITY OP GLASGOW Have sent down a parcel of specimens to the company's office, about 301b. in weight, and the mine is reported as in a far healthier condition than of late.

(fhom Wednesday's " Thames advertiser.") The Onehunga Company : The prospects of the Company continue to improve daily, and it only requires ft larger number of stampers to crush the stone as fast a<3 it can be taken out to make the company one of the most prosperous in the place. They have an excellent and stiongreef, so situated that it can be inexpensively worked for years to come, and the returns even with at times only three stampers at work have been sufficient to defray all the working expenses and leave a small prof t. Yesterday a number of line specimens weie broken out from the winze. There were only about 18 tons of stone crushed lasL week, and the result was 21oz. of gold. This week the full force of the battery is at work, and the yield is expected to be a rich one. The Coulabah : The con ti act duve to catch the underlay of the Onehunga ieef is still going on. The Lone Star : The men are pushing forward their works briskly. The Halcyon Machine is being put into a thorough state of efficiency and repair. Candlelight No. 1 : The crushing at the Australasian Company's battery was finished last evening, and the result obtained fiom the 50 tons put through, was 102oz. of gold. Taken with the result of the spi cimen crushing, the total yield is 2450z. of gold, or an average of nearly soz. to the ton. The New May Moon : The shareholders have had a \ery successful crushing at the Hape Creek battery, the stuff averaging nearly 340z. to the ton. There were 20 tons of stone put through, and the amount of retorted gold obtained v. as 670z. The Golden Gate : The remainder of the plant was sold by auction this morning, and purchased by Mr. Waiters for the sum of £80.
