HASTINGS (TAPU CREEK). May 10.
On Saturday the creek was swollen to a considerable size, and carried away the foot-bridge at the Golden Point. - The Little Jessie has again got good goid. The prospects of the Tapu Goldniining .Company are better than they have been for many months; but I am afraid to mention the reported richness of a new piece of ground said to be developed on that claim. The Imperial Mint Claim is again taken up, and the sinking of the 3?nll Moon shaft is proceeding satisfactorily, but'the stone is hard, and the process of sinking correspondingly slow. The Hope machine is to have a start to-day. l A model amalgamator, the invention of Mr. Gilman, chemist; Onehunga, ia to be put at the bottom of the tables. The Half-Moon is getting out good stuff for crushing. Buck- _ land's machine is still crushing for the lapu Goldmining Company, one battery being also at work for^'the-Comet. 'Battray's machine has two batteries going for the Golden Y alley, and two for Quin and Cashel's. . Near the s. Golden Point an Italian is sinking a shaftbysq himself. -Correspondent of Thames' Aditor-i. r .
