NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS.

NEW ZEALAND TELEGRAPH. mENDERS are invited for the SUPPLY and DELIVERY of 1,800 TELEGRAPH POSTS, more or less, between Taurangaand Lake Taupo. The Posts to be sawn out of the heart of Totara; to be perfectly free from sap, shakes, and loose knots. N.B. — Any post containing the least sap will be rejected. The Posts to be 20 feet long, 8 inches square at the butt, and 6 inches square at the top. The Posts to be delivered at points along the line, about 4 chains apart, which will be pointed out by the District Inspector or his delegate ; and the line will generally follow the road or track from Tauranga to Maketu, and from Maketn to Rotorua and Taupo. Tenders to state the price per post. Each tender must be accompanied by a deposit of £10 as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited should any competitor refuse to sign the contract in the event »f his tender being accepted. Each tender must include the names of two sureties, for approval, who are willing to become bond for the performance of the contract, in the event of the tender being accepted, and must be accompanied by a notification to that effect, signed by the proposed sureties. Tenders to state within what period the posts can be delivered, but the time must not extend beyond the 28th May, 1870. Tenders will be received either for sections of the work or for the whole work, at the tenderer. Further particulars can be obtained at tho office of the District Inspector, Telegraph , Office, Auckland. Tenders to be endorsed, " Tender for the Supply and Delivery of Telegraph Posts between Tauranga and Taupo," to be addressed "The District Inspector, Telegraph Department, Auckland," and to be sent in n«t later than noon on the 11th April, 1870. TENDERS WANTED FOR EXTEN SION AND WORKING. rpENDERS will be received at th« I Engineer's Office, Grahamstown, on or before SATURDAY, the 16th day of April proximo, from persons willing to EXECUTE the EXTENSION of the TARARU TRAMWAY tip TINKER'S GULLY, RECEIVING in RETURN a LEASE of PRESENT LINK and EXTENSIONS. Tenders to state the number of years' lease they m ould require, and the maximum rates of carriage which they would be entitled to charge. Also to STATE the TERMS on which the would LAY DOWN LIGHT IRON RAILS (251b. or 301b.), or substitute thes* for the present wooden rails.

Also, TENDERS will be received at the sam« place and time from parties willing to CONSTRUCT and WORK a LIGHT IRON TRAMWAY from a Deep-water Wharf, to be erected at Tararu Point, and connected with the Tararu Tramway, along the Beach Road from Tararu to Grahamstown and Shortland, stating the length of lease required, and tho maximum charges, Lessee to receive the Sleepers belonging to the Provincial Government presently stacked at the Thames, so far as necessary.
