At the Haymarkel, on Saturday last, inferior horses were dull of sale ; good and young korse3 of all classes met with a steady demand; ridmg horses from £12 to £15$ di aught stock irom £25 to .F40. At Papakura, on Wednesday, there was a full muster of cattle — 149 head penned, principally growing stock. Prices obtained were nigher than those ruling at Hemuera. Calves, from eight to 12 months old, brought from £3 to £4 17s 6d ; eighteen-months-old cattle from £5 10a to £6. At E emu era, on Thursday, dairy cows, at their profit, were better worth. Store cattle were m short supply, but without alteration m value. Fat cattle in usual supply — 97 head sold. They were of better than usiul quality, and met with a ready sale at from 32s to 35s the 1001b., rising in value as tho sale proceeded. Fat sheep were in fair supply, but many of those penned were of imddling quality only. For well-fatted sheep an improvement in price of about 3s each was obtained. Inferior sheep were more saleable, hut without much addition to their value. Lambs were inshoit supply, and sold higher than for several weeks. On the following day I disposed of 52 head of wellfatled steei s, ex ' Comerang' from Whanganui,' at £10 15s each. At the sale of wool and flax held at the Haymarket yesterday, there was a numerous attendance. Much of thf> wool sold was in in bad order. Good wools, well got up, were h> vpoucst, and Is 4U1 the lb., being tho highest pi ice foi this season, was obtained for two bales of scoured wool. Fleece wool, w ashed, bi ought fiom 9d to 13|d , m giease, 5d to 7d; lambswool, washed, lOd to 134d ; in giease, 7d to 9d the lb. The flax offered was of more uniform quality than heretofore. There was a steady demand at about 20s the ton decline on last month's sale; prices obtained were from £24 t > £29 15s, but the greater part realised between '£27 10s and £29 10s the ton. For tow there was a dull sale, but all was quitted at a reduction of from 2s to 3s per cwt. on previous rates, the greater part bringing 6s to o's fid the cwt. One parcel of wool and one of flax were passed ; all others offered were sold. Sale was effected for 132 bales and 51 bags of wool, 30 tons of flax, and 15 tons of tow. CAREY, GILLr.3, HUNTER, AND CO.'s REPORT. The muster of hoises was not quite so good as for the last month, and less animation was displayed in bidding than last week. Nevertheless, an average number changed hands. Hacks sold from £9 to £11, light harness horses from £15 to £18 5s each. The maiket has been moderately supplied with cattle this week. Store stock have been brought forward sufficient for requirements. Fat beasts were in short supply, but of good quality, and sold higher than for some time past.- Dairy cows ■were in full supply, but mostly of a bad description. Good cows at calving lealised hig i prices. Sheep : The yards were well filled with both fat and store, which obtained an advance in price on the previous week. A good number of both fat and store pigs met with ready sale. The following is a list of prices : — Dairy cows from £11 los to £13 Sheej) : Half-breds. 12s to 18s; ineiinos from 5s ; yearlings from £4 2s 6d to £4 10s ; two-year-old steers, *7 2s 6d to £7 12s 6d each. 9s 6d to 10s 9d ; lambs from 8s 6d to 11s each. At Papakura, on Wednesday, an unusually large number of cattle were penned, principally young stock, which met with ready sale. No good dairy cows were offered. A good number of horses met with ready purchasers at fully Auckland prices. Cattle sold as follow : Yearling steers, from. £4 12s 6d to £5 ; one-and-a-half and two-year-old steers, from 1 6 15s to £7 7s 6d ; calves, from £2 14s to £3 each.
